Dagorhir SNOW BATTLE!!!

Mt.Pinos - Chula Vista campground

Saturday, February 27, 2010 - CANCELED due to road closure

"They came from the hills- fur clad mountain men, raiding and pillaging, before retreating, with their booty and hostages, to the safety of their dark, snowy forests.

The King has had enough- he sent his knights, brave men on horseback, to pursue the hill people and exterminate these bandits. But when the army entered the woods and the deep snow, they realized that they were out of their element- and the hill people were waiting for them..."

 We're asking all able bodied warriors and friends to come to this battle at Mt. Pinos- this is a one day event, and we have planned some scenarios that have to be seen to be believed- including the soon-to-be-famous Snow Cavalry Battle!

The weather should be anywhere from 20-40 degrees, so dress warm, and bring food and water. Bear in mind that we'll be walking a few hundred yards into the woods, and the air is thin, so don't bring too much stuff.

To reach the battle site from the Chula Vista parking lot: It's easy-  just follow the trail of Green Ribbons (just to the right of the ski patrol building), follow this trail to the Chula vista campground (this is a few hundred yards). When you reach the campground (there is a sign, and outhouses to the left), continue walking straight, keeping to the high ground. (the main path veers to the right). There is very little undergrowth- this is easier than it sounds. About two hundred yards in, you'll reach the edge of the plateau, and you'll see a large pile of boulders. This is where we'll be staging- look for the banner.
This battle is scheduled for four to five hours- we'll take breaks to rest and catch our breath, and we'll be taking a lunch break (on the warm sunny side of the hill!)

Mordraughk will be meeting attendees at Noon, at the trailhead next to the ranger station. If you arrive a bit later, just follow the directions above.

Remember- to park at the Chula Vista parking lot (which is the highest lot at the top of the mountain) you will need one $5 adventure pass per car. these are available at Big 5 sporting goods stores, at the big liquor store in Frazier park, and they should also be available at the ranger station in the parking lot.

Directions to Mount Pinos:

Take the 5 fwy North out of Los Angeles & the San Fernando Valley towards the Tejon Pass. Exit at Frazier Park (first exit past Gorman). Turn left at the off ramp & head West. Stay on Frazier Mountain Road for 6.9 miles. Continue on when Frazier mtn road becomes Cuddy Valley Rd. Cuddy Valley road continues up to the top of Mt Pinos till the Chula Vista campsite at the end of the road. Park & follow the dirt path to the right of the Winter time ranger station campsite!

Dagorhir Fool's Raid!

Barad'Dún - Las Vegas, Nevada

"Let the Fools come try to take our lands from us!! Their folly shall be met with steel and arrows!! They will make peace with their gods as they lie dying on our lands! Then we will all have lunch together."

This year the Fools will be raiding Barad'Dun in the deserts of Las Vegas! This event is open to all groups!!! This will be a dagorhir sponsored
event so we will be following the Dagorhir rule book and will require Dagorhir wavers.

There will be a picnic BBQ afterwards from 5:00pm until whenever! Bring whatever manner of food and drink you'd like to contribute. There is no cost for this event.

Several Aggelgorodim are staying at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas! If you wish to get in on the night time fun, contact Tulga of the Visigoths.

The Location of the battlefield for this Event has NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED!

RAGNAROK XXIV

Ragnarok is Dagorhir's famous annual war. For one week each year, the Realms of Dagorhir throughout the country gather for the final glorious battle: Ragnarok! Leave the real world behind and enter a realm of mighty heroes. A realm of the fantastic where warrior maidens and grizzled veterans fight side by side with Elves and Orcs. Ragnarok is a week-long extravaganza of mass melee and fun. Ragnarok is a living, breathing celebration of Tolkien's works and of the European history that inspired those works. This event draws hundreds of Tolkien and medieval combat enthusiasts from all over the United States. Triumphs and defeats, parades and parties, tournaments and pit fighting, belly dancers, song, friendship, bloody battles and more lead up to the final battle and celebration!

Dagorhir Field Battle

Dagorhir Aggelgorod welcomes all groups back to our favorite battle site! Check out the Dagorhir Rule Book and bring along a  Dagorhir Waver if you don't already have one on file. All fighters must have a notarized Waiver if you are under 18 - we will be checking ID's!

There will be a picnic BBQ afterwards from 5:00pm until whenever! Bring any manner of food and drink you'd like to contribute. There is no cost for this event.

FOOD:
So we don’t end up with 3,000 hot dog buns and one can of Coke, let’s break it up. If your last name begins with:

 A-J bring Main course stuff: (hot dogs/burgers/buns/sandwiches, etc).
 K-N bring Side Stuff: (salads/chips/dips/cheeses, etc.)
 O-S bring Drinks (water/lemonade/soda pop/iced tea) NO LIQUOR
T-Z bring Desserts (desserts)

The site is located off the 210 freeway in La Crescenta. We will meet in the parking lot where Honolulu Ave. meets Dunsmore Ave. From there we will walk to the battle area. If you arrive late, look for the banners!

Dagorhir Overnight Battle

Mt.Pinos - Chula Vista campground

Saturday, July 10, 2010 - 12:00 pm - Sunday, July 12

"The monsters came from the dark woods to prey upon the villagers and cattle. Rise, warriors, to defend our homeland and drive the beasts back to the depths of hell! We will use Chagatai as bait!!"

 We're asking all able bodied warriors and friends to come to this battle at Mt. Pinos. Dagorhir Aggelgorod welcomes all groups to join the fray. Check out the Dagorhir Rule Book and bring along a  Dagorhir Waver if you don't already have one on file. All fighters must have a notarized Waiver if you are under 18 - we will be checking ID's!

The weather should be anywhere from 40-60 degrees, so dress warm, and bring food and water. Bear in mind that we'll be walking a few hundred yards into the woods, and the air is thin, so don't bring too much stuff.

To reach the battle site from the Chula Vista parking lot: It's easy-  just follow the trail of Green Ribbons (just to the right of the ski patrol building), follow this trail to the Chula vista campground (this is a few hundred yards). When you reach the campground (there is a sign, and outhouses to the left), continue walking straight, keeping to the high ground. (the main path veers to the right). There is very little undergrowth- this is easier than it sounds. About two hundred yards in, you'll reach the edge of the plateau, and you'll see a large pile of boulders. This is where we'll be staging- look for the banner.

Remember- to park at the Chula Vista parking lot (which is the highest lot at the top of the mountain) you will need one $5 adventure pass per car. these are available at Big 5 sporting goods stores, at the big liquor store in Frazier park, and they should also be available at the ranger station in the parking lot.

Directions to Mount Pinos:

Take the 5 fwy North out of Los Angeles & the San Fernando Valley towards the Tejon Pass. Exit at Frazier Park (first exit past Gorman). Turn left at the off ramp & head West. Stay on Frazier Mountain Road for 6.9 miles. Continue on when Frazier mtn road becomes Cuddy Valley Rd. Cuddy Valley road continues up to the top of Mt Pinos till the Chula Vista campsite at the end of the road. Park & follow the dirt path to the right of the Winter time ranger station campsite!

"The call came from the halls of the mountain kings for all able bodied warriors to assemble upon the foothills before the high desert. The winds of war have swept in from the desert - the time to beat back the shrouded desert nomads has come!"

 Time once again to take the field of battle! Dagorhir Aggelgorod welcomes all groups to join the fray. Check out the Dagorhir Rule Book and bring along a  Dagorhir Waver if you don't already have one on file. All fighters must have a notarized Waiver if you are under 18 - we will be checking ID's!  Noble Creek Park is located northeast of the 10 freeway on Oak Valley Pkwy.

Here's a traditional favorite... a Summer battle to beat the heat!!! Come join us at this night battle to fight or just hang out.  After battling by lamplight, everyone will gather to break bread... we'll BBQ right there in the park. See you there!

Dagorhir Field Battle

"Let the local rulers settle their differences upon the field of honor!"

Time once again to take the field of battle! Dagorhir Aggelgorod welcomes all groups to join the fray. Check out the Dagorhir Rule Book and bring along a  Dagorhir Waver if you don't already have one on file. All fighters must have a notarized Waiver if you are under 18 - we will be checking ID's!

From the North

Head south on I-5 S
Take exit 134B on the left for Pomona Fwy/State Hwy 60 toward Pomona - go 0.6 miles
Merge onto CA-60 E/Pomona Fwy E - go 8.4 miles
Take exit 10A for Rosemead Blvd - go 0.3 miles

Mordraughk's 30th Anniversary Night Battle

Father Winter brings us a traditional favorite... a winter battle to celebrate Mordraughk's 29th year fighting Dagorhir!!! Come join us at this night battle to wrap up a fantastic 2010 with a bang! After battling by lamplight, everyone will gather to break bread... the place will be determined in the parking lot. See you there!

Directions from the South: Take the 5 freeway north to the 134 freeway West towards Ventura (go 3.2 miles) Take the W Alameda Ave exit 2 to Hollywood Way (go 0.2 miles) Turn right at W Alameda Ave (go 0.2 miles) Turn left at N California St (go 0.6 miles) Look for the freaks!
